ABOUT THE WORK

The pre-loved Green

REFLECTION

Collecting green-toned 'junk' has been an everyday thing since I started to deal with green colour related ideologies in my practices. Staying at home during the circuit breaker period has given me the time and thinking space to revisit and sort this 'junk', which number thousands of pieces from all over the world. A Square Metre of Green – 1 was thus conceived under such an unprecedented situation: saving the planet not by planting trees or cleaning up litter but staying at home. Consisting of 55 recycled green objects and covering the exact surface of one square metre, the artwork creates the measurements of time, distance and narratives with these pre-loved objects, making references to sustainability in relation to the material culture.
