ABOUT THE WORK
Re-imagining Residency is an International collaboration project between contemporary choreographers and dancers of different countries. By providing a network of international virtual residency that houses choreographic co-creations between countries, choreographers and dance artists, the project provides a digital platform to allow artistic experimentation and social explorations through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary concepts.
Conceptualised by Susan Yeung, Re-Imagining Residency is inspired by the principles of Bloom’s Taxonomy and cognitive learning domain, where color-coded sticky notes are utilised as the visual matrix through the digital and physical interactions between choreographers, musicians, visual artists and movement artists of various artistic practices and traditions. Through different stages of Re-Imagining Residency, the project explores and expands the way for artistic ideas to be exchanged through the use of digital platforms and virtual conversations.
As the world faces challenges arising from the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the advancement of the technological framework makes it accessible for people of different countries, cultures and practices to connect with each other through digital approaches within the virtual space where we co-exist. The vision of this project is to expand the boundary and creativity among dance artists and choreographers, while manifesting a positive connection between Singapore and its international counterparts through virtual creative exchange and relationships.
