ABOUT THE WORK
This Zoom conversation with Thomas Lim – a Singaporean filmmaker, screenwriter and producer who lives and works in Los Angeles and Hong Kong – follows his return to Singapore during the COVID-19 crises to be reunited with his family. Thomas is speaking from quarantine in a local hotel, where he finds the time to think and produce the first draft of a screenplay set in Singapore. During our conversation, Thomas reflects on filmmaking and some of the key skills that young film and animation students should bear in mind as they pursue a career. He also talks about an international film industry that has been in production shutdown since the start of the pandemic emergency. His own isolation in a hotel room with a garden view is never far away from the conversation.
