ABOUT THE WORK

This series of digital paintings is an extension of my research into the notion of disenchantment and re-enchantment of the natural world. Each work presents a scene or action that alludes to various references such as colonialism and anthropology.

REFLECTION

During the circuit breaker period when working from home was nationally mandated, I lost access to my studio and had to find ways to paint from home. Due to space constraints, I had to search for an alternative mode to continue working and discovered digital painting. These are some of the paintings that I did during this period. I regard them more as sketches for my ideas rather than finished paintings, and they might form the basis for future work or they might not. The silver lining during this circuit breaker period is perhaps discovering a new mode of translating my ideas quickly and digitally.
