Two Minutes of Island Paradise (Sun Set to Rise)

Video / 2:09 mins

ABOUT THE WORK

Two Minutes of Island Paradise (Sun Set to Rise) is a stop-motion 'collage' video based on found footage of a tropical sunset. It was first presented alongside paintings in a 2019 solo exhibition Stagecraft: Landscapes & Paradise. This body of work took reference from and was inspired by a collection of postcards and posters of Singapore tourism in the 1980s and 90s. As devices to project glimpses of pleasure and attractions, these hopeful images were formulated to communicate fragmented implications of an ideal setting.
