Chromatico paper
ABOUT THE WORK
Hazel utilises the origami technique to investigate craft diagrams and colour theory, while at the same time, interrogating the relationship of craft to the domestic and feminine. These works feature modular pieces of paper that are interlocked with one another. The semi-transparent paper with varying shades of white, black, silver, gold and blue are joined to form large-scale malleable pieces of sculpture to highlight the properties of the paper and to diffuse and reflect light and shadows in a space. The origami is a type of weave, where individual parts are fashioned together to form larger and more powerful objects in scale and form.
