what should i do to get your attention?

Performance remnants / Acrylic on canvas

ABOUT THE WORK

During this circuit breaker period, Ezzam decided to revisit his past works and specifically a series that he was working on in 2016/17 where he was trying to record his bodily presence on materials. what should i do to get your attention? is a series of performance remnants, acrylic on canvas. This series of works is Ezzam's investigation on capturing his own bodily prints, leaving his presence while his breathing body is absent. Ezzam is constantly questioning his own existence, sharing his personal narratives and experiences as a minority body and a marginalised citizen where he felt that his presence is invisible at times.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ezzam Rahman is a multidisciplinary installation and performance artist based in Singapore. Ezzam is known for his interest in the body and his use of common, easily accessible and unconventional materials to produce works. Through his work, Ezzam features narratives that challenge and expand the notions of identity politics, the inherent paradoxes of presence and marginality. Most of his works are time-based ephemera that aim to pique the viewer’s thoughts on the topic of impermanence, trace and abjection.
