Electromagnetic Objects

Visuals and electronic music / 4:07 mins

ABOUT THE WORK

Electromagnetic Objects is the work of Andreas Schlegel and Brian O’Reilly. In this audio-visual performance, electro-acoustic instruments, custom-built interfaces and real-time generated images are presented. Visuals are projected onto a large projection screen with both performers in front operating gongs, electronics, synths and code on the spot. Electromagnetic Objects’ performance can vary in duration and setup.

ABOUT THE ARTISTs

Andreas Schlegel works across disciplines and creates objects, tools and interfaces where art and technology meet in a curious way. Many of his works are collaborative and have been presented on screen, in code, as installation, performance or workshop. His practice focuses on emerging and open source technologies, where outcomes are inspired and informed by computation, interaction and networked processes. Andreas is a senior lecturer at LASALLE's School of Design Communication.

Brian O'Reilly works within the fields of electro-acoustic composition, sound installations, moving images and noise music. He is also a contrabassist focusing on uncovering the inaudible textures and hidden acoustic microsounds of his instrument through the integration of electronic treatments and extended playing techniques. Brian is a lecturer at LASALLE's School of Contemporary Music.
